OVERVIEW

Stephen Armstrong manages his dairy farm set amidst the countryside of Mella, Tasmania. For the past eight years, this farm has been at the heart of their family. Stephen and Samantha began their journey on the farm 8 years ago and since then, have welcomed their two children, Archer and Georgie, into the world. These two don't miss a chance to be down at their new calving barn, being apart of the goings on however they can. And there is plenty to do! At present, the Armstrong family is milking 475 cows, and aspire to expand that by the year's end.

In 2022, Stephen had the calving barn constructed, and in 2023, he added the canopy. He expressed his satisfaction with both experiences, highlighting the positive interactions he had with our sales team and construction crews. Stephen pointed out that his decision to proceed with both projects has been beneficial not only for himself and his family in terms of time saving, but also for the welfare of their cows. He shared that last year they didn't loose a cow, demonstrating the positive impact of this as an investment for him. When the calving barn isn't serving its primary purpose, Stephen utilizes it for hay and straw storage. He mentions that the shed's generous height makes the loading and unloading process extremely straightforward.

We're proud to have been a part of this journey with Stephen, it's a shared achievement that we can all be proud of. We look forward to continuing to support Stephen, Samantha, Archer and Georgie, and their dairy farm as they reach new success and fulfillment in the years to come!

Project Manager ...

Working alongside Stephen to turn his calving barn concept into reality was extremely rewarding. The finished product provides a warm and dry environment for both the cows and the calves, serving its purpose exceptionally well.

This project serves as a classic example of a practical, functional structure that leverages the unique advantages offered by our Bison Buildings. Stephen opted for 1800mm high, 200mm thick concrete panels on two walls, which securely attach to the main columns, providing a solid lining. This building is highly versatile, serving as an excellent all-weather work area and offering valuable storage space during the off-season.

It's exciting to see a project like this successfully reach completion, and we look forward to delivering many more like it in the future!

Tom Harris - Project Manager
It was February or March when i spoke with Cameron and it could be built by the end of June. I wanted it for that calving season, and it was built before then. So that's why we went with Bison.
